Germanite

Item Description

Attractive and massive specimen of Germanite-rich ore from level 37 of the Tsumeb Mine, deep in its third oxidation zone. This region was noted for its incredible wealth of very rare elements and minerals containing Germanium, among others. This specimen has a superb metallic luster, and a lovely irridescence, perhaps in a large part to the pinkish-violet Germanite. Other minerals in association are Galena, Chalcopyrite, and possibly Tennantite and Renierite. For what it is, an excellent and rare specimen.
