"Gitter" Smoky Quartz (New Find)

A striking, very impressive CABINET specimen of smoky quartz from recent finds in the Erongo Mountains. This aesthetic piece has more potential fine display possibilities than just about any specimen of any species I have seen anywhere in over 40 years of collecting: either side, either end and sideways! Smoky quartz with this dense three-dimensional lattice of crystals from the Erongos is called "Gitter Quartz", for the German name "Gitterquartz" ("fence" or "lattice" quartz) because the specimens look a bit like a garden lattice fence. A few of the translucent smokies are doubly terminated. The quality and aesthetics of the piece is truly amazing.
