Item Description

Gittinsite and vlasovite are ultra-rare zirconium silicates, found only in a few alkaline massifs worldwide and the Kipawa Complex is the Type Locality for gittinsite. Rich crusts of chalky white gittinsite are found on all sides of the glassy or sparkly, cherry-red to pink, eudialyte matrix. Tan vlasovite is associated with the gittinsite on back. This is an extremely rich and colorful combination specimen of these rare species. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection.
