Item Description

This is a great specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen, has no Amazonite, but it is a great display piece featuring sharp, lustrous, highly aesthetic, golden-black "blades" of Goethite forming a beautiful crystallized "spray" with minor "Onegite" Quartz on matrix. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected nearly 40 years ago (October of 1972) when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. According to Rich Kosnar's records, this piece was the finest of it's kind from the find, and he mentioned that these were the best "spike-like" crystals found at the claim. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic". It is not common to see a matrix specimen of this material, let alone such an aesthetic and eye-catching piece like this one. Valued at $1500-$1800.
