Item Description

This is a wonderful specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen, has no Amazonite, but it is a great display piece featuring sharp, VERY lustrous, metallic black "needles" and "sprays" of Goethite with minor associated Smoky Quartz. The luster is superb for the species, and the largest Goethite measures 2.7 cm long, which is big for the material! Keep in mind that this specimen was collected over 30 years ago (August of 1980), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
