Item Description

Highly lustrous, iridescent, goethite botryoids and stalactites cover the goethite matrix on this very rich and showy old-timer from this historic goethite iron mine. This was the largest and most important mine in the Salisbury District. Discovered in 1732, with sporadic production until 1884, then worked heavily until 1904. It was the last goethite mine to close in 1923 (MINDAT). Classic and excellent old-time material from the Paterson Museum circa 1900, where it was on display. valued $750
