A fantastic thumbnail specimen of crystallized Gold from the Michigan Bluff District in California, where mining began in the 1850s and continues to this day. We acquired this specimen in 2023, directly from the man who mined it. It's from a new discovery, where some excellent Gold specimens have been found in recent years. The piece is a complete "floater" group featuring superb, metallic, bright golden colored crystals of Gold showing primarily octahedral and dodecahedral crystals with skeletal/"hoppered" faces, but other forms and habits can be seen as well. The largest crystal measures about 5 mm. As mentioned, the piece is completely crystallized all over and looks great up close. We've done our best to illustrate the quality in the macro photos. A choice thumbnail specimen from this historic mining district, where some of the most recognized crystallized Gold specimens in history have been found. The weight of the piece is 2.40 grams.
