Gold on Quartz

Item Description

A mass of bright, yellow, spongy gold nearly covers its host matrix of massive, white quartz. In places, the gold exhibits incipient crystal faces and although these crystals are not very 3-dimensional, the piece is nevertheless crystalline and not a nugget. The mass is 32 grams. At just over an ounce of gold here, this piece is worth about $2000 if you melt it down to bullion. It is worth more as a specimen, of course!
