Gold on Quartz

Item Description

An attractive matrix thumbnail specimen of the well-known, eye-catching, yet hard to find Golds from the Timmins area in Ontario. We were not given a specific mine for this pieces, but it was purchased from Frank and Wendy Melanson, who are as reliable a source as you can ask for. Since there are dozens of mines in the area, we just left the locality at Timmins. Looking closely, it's easy to see the brilliant, metallic, semi-leaf-like crystalline Gold sitting on the thin slab of off-white colored Quartz. Very attractive with magnification, and we photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A great thumbnail for any fan of native elements collector, Canadian minerals, or worldwide thumbnails.
