Item Description

A great old time and incredibly elusive Gold specimen from the famous Glory Hole just outside of Central City, Colorado. The first major gold rush in Colorado took place on the modern day sites of Black Hawk and Central City. This area became known as "The Richest Square Mile on Earth" due to its prolific gold production which began in the 1860s and ran through the early 1900s. This thumbnail features crystalline formations and semi-"leaf"-like growths of brilliant glowing metallic Gold sitting on contrasting white Quartz. The Gold is very attractive up close, and this piece is a must have for any Gold collector or a fan of historic specimens from famous localities. From the Colorado suite of the Richard A. Kosnar Collection, the well-known dealer and the namesake for the species Kosnarite. Specimen weight is 1.06 grams.
