Item Description

A fantastic and historic display specimen of Gold from the famous Idarado mine. The platy crystals have a lustrous, BRIGHT, metallic appearance, and stand out beautifully against the snow-white Quartz matrix. along the back "ridge" of the specimen, one can clearly see a patch of muted forest-green "Chlorite" crystals (most likley Clinochlore) which highly indicative of the Idarado mine! This piece would make a fine addition to a Colorado suite, or even more specifically, a San Juan mineral suite. It was collected by Clancy Fleetwood (Brian Kosnar's great-grandfather) in 1946. The piece later became part of the famous Colorado mineral collection of Richard Kosnar, whose hand-painted label is on the bottom of the specimen. Valued at $1250.
