Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of the rare zeolite species Gonnardite from the type locality in France! This small cabinet specimen features a brown colored mass of diabase / dolerite host rock filled with little open vugs lined with cream-white colored Gonnardite, which have formed radial aggregates. Small white crystals of Phillipsite can be seen inside some of the vugs as well. Gonnardite was named for the former professor of mining engineering at the University of Lyon, France, Ferdinand-Pierre-Joseph Gonnard. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6296). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
