Item Description

Graftonite is a rare iron-manganese-calcium phosphate that seldom crystallizes in euhedral crystals. When it does, they are usually pretty ugly. This piece is the exception. There are large, relatively sharp crystals, along with a 5.4 cm, lustrous, reddish-brown llamelar sheet of graftonite, thus this is an important specimen. Bob regarded graftonite specimens very highly in his collection. Ex. Robert Whitmore Collection # 561 with a 1972 date.
