Item Description

Doodletown was an isolated hamlet near Stony Point and was founded in the 1760s by loggers and miners. It has been extinct since the 1960s. Mineral specimens from here are extremely rare. This is great, old specimen from this obscure New York locality of nearly solid lustrous and metallic graphite crystals. Graphite is one of those minerals that are common but rarely seen as quality mineral specimens. Not pretty, but this is a great representation of this mineral. Ex Charles Velte Collection and comes with his faded older label.
