Item Description

Gemmy and lustrous, rich golden-orange, grossular garnet variety hessonite are richly and beautifully mixed with lustrous, green diopside crystals on this outstanding combination specimen from the famous Ala Valley of Italy. This specimen came out of the personal garnet suite of collector/dealer/miner Bill Larson and was on display for many years at his Fallbrook store in a special case. This is an exceptionally rich garnet combination specimen for this noted locale. The garnets are incorrectly labeled as almandines, though (on a label made in the late 1970s). This beautiful and relatively larger plate was valued $1250
