Grossular Garnet w/ Calcite (Mervyn Ford Coll.)

Textbook sharp grossular garnet dodecahedrons are aesthetically set atop matrix and are nicely accented with RARE for the locale calcite rhombs on this excellent Chinese combination miniature. The impressive large central crystal is 2.6 x 1.8 cm. The highly lustrous crystals are dark rust-brown, but bright light really shows the striking gemmy golden-orange edges and interior filled fractures. A very fine and uncommon combination with muliple display views from the Mervyn Ford Collection.
