Item Description
Garnet enthusiasts have always had a soft spot for the Barang-Turghao locality in Pakistan, well known to all for their excellent and truly world class in size crystals of Hessonite Garnets. Completely covering the surface of the matrix, these orange Grossulars are very well-formed, with trapezohedral faces displaying occasional striations. The good transluscency and luster serve to highlight the pleasant color. The two large crystals, up to an impressive 2.4 cm, really stand out as they sit near the top of the plate, and this dramatic and aesthetic presentation more than offsets a few very small dings that can be seen across the piece (in place or from the difficult mining, I don't know). This small cabinet piece is an exemplary specimen for both the location and the species.
