The “snail” tsavorite! A gorgeous, gemmy rich lime-green, tsavorite garnet dodecahedron is set in diopside and graphite matrix with smaller tsavorites on this excellent and aesthetic thumbnail from this famous locale. The size of the garnet is 0.9 cm. Tsavorite is the very rare, green, chromian or vanadian bearing variety of grossular garnet, found in few places worldwide, nearly all of which are in Africa. Matrix specimens are rare, with any aesthetics, and this is a fine thumbnail specimen. EX: Jingnan (Tom) Zhang collection.
