Item Description

This is a beautiful and rarely seen classic example of the famous Gypsum specimens with inclusions of golden-brown sand from the Great Salt Plains State Park in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. Typically, we see single crystals are clusters of crystals from this locality, but the highly desirable twinned specimens are rarest and arguably the most sought after. This piece is essentially a complete "floater" with no real point of attachment that I can see, as it is crystallized all the way around. It comprises many bladed and blocky crystals of what would essentially be colorless Gypsum, but they have a distinctive golden-brown hue from sand inclusions, which have formed gorgeous and distinct "fishtail"-twins that run the length of the specimen. No real damage that I can see, and it's beautiful from all sides. Classic material from Oklahoma.
