Item Description

Carrara marble is world renowned for its color and quality, but it also plays host to some beautiful crystallized mineral species such as Gypsum. This attractive small cabinet specimen features a glassy, very sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless "sword"-shaped crystal of Gypsum measuring 2.0 cm nestled into a small vug in the marble host rock matrix. A beautiful example of this classic material from Italy. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8544). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
