Item Description

Lustrous, sharp, transparent, colorless to tinted halite cubes, to 2.0 cm, cover both sides of this dramatic, sculptural, large, narrow two-sided rib from this famous New Mexico potash producing district. The crystal density is remarkable and this very fine older piece is essentially pristine, except for the acceptable periphery wear. The former dealer label indicates the piece was collected in 1965. The halite ID has been confirmed by Phil Simmons, author of the fine 2013 article in the Mineralogical Record of the Carlsbad Potash Basin. Valued at $400-500 for size and richness.
