Item Description

In recent years, we've seen some of the most colorful, gemmy and well-formed crystals of Halite coming from the Carlsbad Potash Mining District in New Mexico. This piece is a good representation of this material featuring a partial crystal of Halite that ranges in color from a deep inky blue hue to white / colorless on the thin end of the specimen. While the specimen is not a complete crystal, it still shows many well-formed, smooth cubic faces, and if you look closely, you can see the blue portion of the specimen shows slight cubic "phantoms". From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
