Item Description

Sharp, well-formed, white to colorless cubes of Halite are intergrown to create a dramatic, showy and three-dimensional specimen which is accented by GEM quality, prismatic crystal of soft pink colored Selenite (Gypsum). The largest Halite measures 4.3 cm on edge, and actually shows beautiful "hollow" / skeletal form internally. The piece is complete all the way around, and I can only seen a tiny point of attachment, so it's nearly a complete "floater". Great overall form and really eye-catching for the material. Certainly the most attractive specimen of this material that we've seen, and would make a great addition to a European mienral suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11179). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
