A wonderful, showy miniature sized specimen featuring superb, sharp, lustrous, jet-black, pseudo-octahedral Hausmannite crystals on matrix. The Kalahari Manganese Field has been the source of arguably the world's finest specimens of this species ever found. Upon close inspection, the crystals retain their individuality (measuring up to 1.4 cm on edge), and show beautifully, but many are also complexly intergrown, which are also very attractive and interesting. I love how some of the Hausmannites are stacked like pagoda towers These are wonderful crystals of high quality and unusually well displayed on matrix. This piece is at least 15 years old, and nothing of this quality or crystal size has come out in some time. If you collection minerals of the Kalahari Manganese Field, worldwide oxides or simply superb crystallized examples of minerals, this is a great piece to add to your collection. This isn't a "black rock", but a very good example of a species that is rarely seen in specimens of this caliber outside of South Africa.
