Item Description
A 2.8 cm, sharp, moderately lustrous deep royal-blue lazurite dodecahedron is dramatically set on the large sculptural matrix of sugary marble on this showy and excellent larger specimen from the famous Type Locality. The vein of lazurite and pyrite coursing through the marble adds aritistic quality. Lazurite/Lapis Lazuli is no longer considered a separate species, but a variety of Hauyne, a Sodalite Group member. The marble fluoresces a moderate pink and the sections of golden phlogopite plates a bright yellow. The base has been sawed to enhance the very fine display quality. Classic, shapely and highly representative large combination material from this renowned, ancient locale.
