A rich old-time hedenbergite specimen from this historic mining district. Highly lustrous, greenish-black, blocky hedenbergite crystals are attractively set on the massive hedenbergite matrix. Classic old-time material from an important locality for science. These are some of the best European hedenbergites. Not pretty to look at, but remains a highly represenative example of the species and locale. From an East Coast collection and comes with a Foote label dating from 1900-1916 and a Hugh Ford label dating from 1946-57.
