Item Description

A wonderful micro specimen hosts a single, gemmy, yellow tetrahedron of Helvine on a thin bit of matrix from the famous Foote Mine in North Carolina. These specimens are extremely rare on the market, and I've only seen one other piece of this material in my life. Foote Mine Helvines are always microscopic, but they are highly sought after by micromount collectors or Foote Mine collectors in general. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10188). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
