Item Description

Mine No. 884 is renowned for world-class, V-twin butterfly calcite crystals, that were recovered in the late 1990s to early 2000s. A much RARER style is this striking large scalenohedron featured here. The three sides of the sharply terminated, lustrous, translucent crystal with striking alligator hide-like stepped-growth faces are dramatically partially to fully included with rust-red hematite. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The termination has a trivial bruise, a few spots of very modest scuffing are noted on the sides and edges and one face has a contact, where another crystal once lay, but has very little actual damage. A RARE, outstanding and fascinating large style of calcite from this noted locale.
