Item Description

When it comes to Hematite "iron roses" the long-standing iconic specimens are those from the Swiss Alps. They are highly valued around the mineral world for their quality and sheer visceral beauty. This aesthetic miniature specimen is from the famous Fedenstock locality and features a 6 mm "rose" of brilliant, metallic, silvery-grey colored Hematite with a secondary smaller "rose" sitting on ery sharp, highly lustrous, GEM quality, Smoky Quartz crystals with minor associated white Albite. The top / display portion of the specimen is in fine condition, though it is contacted on the lower area where it was removed from the pocket wall. Both of the Hematite "roses" are undamaged and gorgeous to view up close. A wonderful example of these classic and world-renowned Hematites from Switzerland. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5170). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
