Item Description

Dramatic and classic combination piece from the famous Wessels Mine. The lustrous, fat Hematites are mirror-like with subtle, but distinctive striations on some of the faces. They are sharp, and in very good condition. The largest Hematite crystal is about 1.7 cm across, and twinned. Adding to the quality of the piece is the fact that the Hematites rest on Calcite. Not just any Calcite, but a fluorescent, well-terminated, partially gemmy Calcite rhombohedron. The architecture of the piece makes it look like the Hematites are resting alongside a mountain peak. Very cool, and very aesthetic. A high-quality miniature from a very special pocket. Ex Charlie Key collection
