Item Description

Some of the world's finest Hemimorphite specimens have come from the Santa Eulalia area in Mexico. These specimens are some of the most aesthetic and eye catching pieces from this locality. This specimen features very good sized, sharp, lustrous, bladed, white crystals of Hemimorphite measuring up to 2.0 cm aesthetically sitting on gossan matrix. The crystals have a beautiful two-tone coloring from reddish iron oxide. The crystals have a highly vitreous luster, and the piece displays beautifully as you can see in the last photo. There is one contact on the front side of one of the crystals, but overall the piece is in very good condition. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
