Item Description

This piece came labeled as coming from Raibl, Carinthia, Austria, but the locality at Raibl is actually in Italy, so we're not 100% certain where it's from. We can't find a specimen of this material from either Raibl or anywhere in Carinthia for comparison. WIth that said, it's a rare pseudomorph featuring drusy peachy-pink Hemimorphite which has replaced blocky crystals of Calcite (with a bit of preexisting Calcite still present) and minor white Hydrozincite (according to the label). The color of the Hemimorphite along with the fact that it has formed these attractive pseudomorphs makes it a very interesting and eye-catching specimen. If anybody out there can help us shed a little light on this piece as to its origin, please contact us. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
