Item Description

Matrix Herkimer quartz "diamond" specimens are rare because the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting, as the matrix is usually very hard. This is a very rare, highly unusual and showy combination specimen of numerous, doubly terminated, gem, quartz crystals to 1.2 cm embedded on a large, amber, calcite rhomb set in the sculptural matrix vug. Crystallized calcite, in itself, is very rare from Middleville. The base has been sawed to enhance the display quality. Ex Schlichter Collection.
