Item Description

A very showy combination piece from a historic, but MUCH LESS WELL-KNOWN Romanian locality - the Baita Mining District of Bihor County. Gemmy, lustrous, beautifully striated, golden-brown grossular garnets variety hessonites are richly and aesthetically scattered on a matrix of blocky, greenish-black uralite crystals. Uralite is a an amphibole group mineral. The gemmy grossular garnet varietal crystals reach 1.1 cm. Comes with a 7.5 x 2.6 cm engraved plastic label. Valued at $950 for quality of specimen, combination of species, large gemmy crystals and OLD, CLASSIC locale. Baita is the Type Locality for hemimorphite.
