Item Description

A classic association specimen from the famous Val d'Ala in Italy. The combination of orange-red Grossular (Hessonite) with green Diopside and Clinochlore is a staple for any Alpine mineral collection. Sharp, very lustrous, GEM/gemmy, well-formed, dodecahedral crystals of Hessonite are associated with soft green prismatic crystals of Diopside measuring up to 1.1 cm and minor "rosette"-like groups of darker green Clinochlore ("Chlorite"). Great quality and beautiful to view up close. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5777). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
