Item Description

Rich red to orange heulandite is RARE from this famous Paterson traprock quarry, that was active from 1893-1925. Quarry trimming in the late 1980s for housing construction yielded more superb specimens. Lustrous, burnt-orange, parallel-growth tabular crystals, to 1.5 cm, fill a sculptural, impressive 6.0 vug in basalt matrix. The piece displays well from both directions. Very fine old-time material from the active quarrying period, that comes with a faded, water-stained and torn century-old label.
