Item Description

The Heulandites (and other zeolites) from Nasik are among the finest crystallized examples of their respective species in the world. Indian Heulandites are a found in a wide array of colors ranging from orange, pink, purple and even green. This piece features highly lustrous, pearlescent, translucent crystals of Heulandite with transition from a salmon pink color at the base into a white/colorless tone throughout the majority of the crystals, ending with a slight mauve hue on the right side and the back of the crystals sitting on a thin slab of basalt matrix. The Heulandite crystals measure up to 6.7 cm. Small "sword"-shaped crystals of pale peachy-pink colored Stilbite can be seen scattered here and there. If you collection zeolites or Indian minerals, this is a great piece to add to your collection. No damage that I can find. The abundance of Indian zeolites and associated species on the market should not deter collectors from their world-class quality, and specimens with this quality few and far between. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
