Hornblende (old classic) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A classic specimen of the old historic Hornblendes from Studsdalen, Kragero, Norway featuring sharp, well-formed, prismatic crystals of a dark greenish-black hue. The terminations of the crystals have a fibrous growth / appearance and a soft "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
