Item Description

Hureaulite was named in 1825 after the type locality, a village in France named Hureaux. This rare and beautiful manganese phosphate is most notably found at the Jocão Claim in Brazil. The glowing electric orange-pink color, large (most other Hureaulites are micro crystals from various localities around the world) crystals are the standard for the species at this locality. This small cabinet specimen piece is a superb, classic display piece featuring dozens of notably sharp, lustrous, translucent, vibrant orange-pink colored monoclinic crystals of Hureaulites sitting atop beautifully contrasting golden-brown colored Correianevesite and minor nearly black colored Rockbridgeite underneath. The largest Hureaulite crystal is doubly-terminated and measures 1.0 cm long, though clusters of crystals measure up to 1.7 cm across. No damage that I can see, and I have to stress the high quality of both the Hureaulite and Correianevesite crystals, as they are incredibly lustrous with high translucecny. A very attractive, three-dimensional and high quality pecimen of this hard to find material, from the best location for the in terms of the size, quality and color of the crystals. Please note, the old Rocksmiths label accompanying the piece states that it is from the Crimonoso Mine in Minas Gerais, but I can't find listing for this mine where Hureaulite has been reported. Valued at $4,000 in our inventory.
