Item Description

Lustrous, metallic-gray hutchinsonite lathes, to about 6 mm, are aesthetically scattered on the undulating matrix covered with sharp tiny oxide-coated pyritohedrons. Scattered clusters of burnt-orange orpiment crystals are a classic, contrasting and typical accessory. Hutchinsonite is a very rare thallium, lead, arsenic sulfosalt. This famous Peru mine is well-known for excellent combination specimens and for some of the finest hutchinsonites in the world. This is a very fine and rich example of the combination species from the famous Quiruvilca Mine. Ex Francesco Bedogne Collection # 1224. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector.
