Item Description

Hydroxylellestadite is a very rare neosilicate and member of the Ellestadite Group. This piece is from the type locality for Hydroxylellestadite, the Chichibu Mine in Japan. We've only a handful of these specimens over the years, and to have a piece from the type very rare. This piece features massive Hydroxylellestadite wiht a pale purplish-white hue. The label refers to the material as a rose-pink hue, but I think it may have slightly altered over time. If you collect rarities, Japanese minerals, or specimens from the type locality, you cannot miss out on this one. This piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
