Item Description

Please note that this specimen came labeled as coming from Capelinha, but it could be from the Golconda as Hydroxylherderite is not reported from the fomer locality. Regardless, it is still a FINE quality specimen of the less common beige-pink hue. Many people associated a purple hue with the Brazilian Hydroxylherderites, but this one is older material, probably dating back around 35-40 years. A very well-formed, sharp, glassy, doubly-terminated crystal that ranges from a golden gemmy tone on the ends to a more opaque beige-pink hue in the center. The front of the piece is in great shape, but it is contacted on the back edge. I have to stress how shiny and smooth the faces are on this piece as they are rarely found with such great crystal from from Brazil. The luster is top notch to be sure, and the fact that it's gemmy on each termination is a real plus. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #1048).
