Bone-white layered botryoids of distinctive hydrozincite comprise this solid sculptural, undulating crust from this well-known extinct Fe-Zn-Pb mine in Portugal. The preferential coating of sparkly microcrystalline plattnerite, lead oxide, is a striking contrast and typical accessory along with the spare coatings of orange-brown iron oxides in recessed areas adds even more character and contrast. Underneath the dome shaped specimen is just as tantalizing. It displays a concave cast-like feature full of vuggy texture.
