Item Description

Perhaps the finest large cabinet specimen of this material that we've ever had to offer. These specimens came out around 2009, and quickly disappeared from the market. We've actually been holding this one back in the hopes that more would come along, but we've decided to give somebody an opportunity to pick up a superb display quality specimen of a species that is virtually impossible to find on the market from China these days. This showy and three-dimensional specimen is loaded with dozens upon dozens of chalky snow white to slightly translucent, botryoidal / semi-stalactitic aggregates of fine quality Hydrozincite sitting on a small bit of oxidized matrix. A small amount of bright green fluorescence can be seen under SW UV light. The exact locality of this material is still under debate. It was obviously a very limited discovery or possibly isolated find, and we were told when we purchased the piece that it was from "Wenshan", but I cannot find a report of it in any book or database to confirm this. Several years ago, we found a couple of pieces listed as Dali Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, so that's what I'm sticking with for now. The quality is truly impressive an this piece stands out as being as good as any Hydrozincite specimen from any other world locality that I've seen, especially because it's so large and eye-catching with no real damage of note on the display side. I really love the excellent arrangement of the piece with distinct separation between individual spheres. Priced at $4,500 in our inventory.
