Item Description

An attractive and good quality "Alpine type" specimen featuring a few lustrous, metallic, silvery, platy crystallized "rosettes" of Ilmenite associated with very lustrous, GEM quality, white/colorless Albite on matrix. The largest Ilmenite "rosette" measures 1.7 cm across. It is certainly a good quality Ilmenite, not only from Pakistan, but any worldwide locality. Rich Kosnar purchased the specimen from noted dealer of Pakistani minerals, Dudley Blauwet in 1999. Good crystallized Ilmenite is not terribly common on the market, and this piece is comparable to pieces I have seen from the Swiss Alps. A cool, hand-sized specimen resembling those from Alpine "clefts".
