Item Description

A very hard to find matrix specimen of Imperial Topaz from the famous locality at Ouro Preto. Typically the crystals from this locality are an orange hue, ranging from light to very strong in saturation, but this piece shows a SCINTILLATING electric purplish-pink hue. The intensity of the color is even more noteworthy considering the smaller size of the crystals - which measure up to 3.5 mm - as most Topaz crystals are pale when they're on the small side. The combination of the amazing color of the Topaz sitting on white to colorless, translucent to GEM quality prismatic Quartz matrix is a great rarity for the locaity and for this Topaz variety in general. Don't miss out on this attractive and eye-catching specimen from this world-famous district in Brazil. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
