Item Description

The world-famous Pederneira Mine has been producing some of the most iconic Tourmaline specimens in the world for decades. It is celebrated for the superior quality and size of crystals that are found in a rainbow of colors. This beautiful cabinet sized piece features a predominant, doubly-terminated, classic gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline with a secondary "sidecar" crystal from circa 2010 finds. The highly lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystals are VERY GEMMY (and even WATER CLEAR in areas). As mentioned, the larger crystal is doubly-terminated (the smaller crystal is contacted) featuring a pyramidal termination on the bottom, and the top is partially re-crystallized ("re-healed") with a bit of intergrown purplish "Lepidolite" mica. There are two clean repairs on the piece, which is certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species, and a large percentage of Tourmalines from Pederneira are repaired. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, glassiness, high luster and striations. Better in person! Specimen weight is 41.31 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite. Priced at $4,500 in the inventory.
