Indicolite Tourmaline (doubly-terminated) with Quartz (doubly-terminated)

Tourmaline is one of the most popular gem minerals for collectors, found all over the world, in every color of the rainbow. The world-famous Pederneira Mine in Brazil is celebrated for the superior quality and size of the various Tourmaline crystals it has produced over the years. Here we have a classic gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The lustrous, striated, bright greenish-blue prismatic trigonal crystal is rather gemmy, and when backlit you can see it has a thin pinkish-purple zone on one end, which is one of the rarest colors to find in Tourmaline, and a thin yellow "cap" on the other end, another very rare color for Tourmaline. Not only is the piece doubly-terminated, but it hosts a 3.1 cm, flattened white Quartz crystal which is also doubly-terminated and damage-free. Very few pieces like this were found at the Pederneira Mine, and the overall balance and arrangement of the piece leaves nothing to be desired. The piece has one clean repair, which is par for the course with this material, as most of the crystals are repaired. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess and luster. Better in person! Specimen weight is 19.38 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite, with a rare doubly-terminated Quartz association.
