Item Description

Inyoite is a rare borate mineral, which is rarely found in fine display quality specimens. With that said, the specimens from the Monte Azul Borate Deposit in Argentina are arguably the finest examples ever seen. This small cabinet piece is a superb, showy and aesthetic specimen featuring very sharp, (monoclinic) crystals of translucent Inyoite measuring 4.1 cm across. The outer edges of the Inyoite crystals are included with rare Meyerhofferite, creating a wonderful effect, as the center of the Inyoites are a bit gemmy, but shows a delicate white/lavender exterior. Excellent quality and aesthetics, and nearly impossible to find in today's market. From a discovery circa 2007, and never really seen again since. Valued at $1,000 retail.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#2199). Another label accompanies the piece stating it was obtained July 5, 2004 from Rock Currier.
