Iolite

Item Description

Iolite is a variety of Cordierite, showing a predominantly blue color, but it's also pleochroic, so it shows a purple hue in one direction and a yellow shade in the third direction. The gem gets its name from Greek, and literally means "violet stone". This stone is a wonderful "Pear Brilliant" cut gem with nearly eye-clean clarity (very very slight inclusions), and a rich blue-purple color face up.
